when breeding do females stop eating??

hi everyone, i am wondering if during breeding season do females stop eating, and if they do, approximately how long do they do it for?

i have three females together in a big 40 gallon tank for about 9 to 10 months already and they never had any problem.... thats why im a little worried about my girls i love them to death so does my wife...

i would appreciate the help very much....

Yes they cut back a lot when breeding. They will lose a lot too when bred with a male.

It is normal for them to slow down on the eating when ovulating or gravid. When they are gravid, mine usually get their appetite back briefly after laying eggs and stop eating again a few days before laying the next batch. Just be sure to supplement them properly and always leave a dish of pure calcium for them to lick on.
