Hey

This is a thread on about when do you start attempting to breed you leopard geckos. I would like to find out the best time to breed.
Thanks

Well it can depend on a few factors, weight being one of them.

I'm sure breeders will chime in soon.

breeding leos is generally about weight not age, the appropriate weight of a female is around 35-45 grams, the gecko should be around 9 months when she reaches that weight(dont stuff your gecko just to try and breed it, these weights are for healthy geckos), the males are generally ready around 6-7 months or 30-40 grams, if you wait a little longer for them to mature more you will see better results, thats what ive found to be true but someone correct me if im wrong

I thought I'd correct this bit of "Advice" you got. Breeding a female at 35 grams is a good way to stunt her growth and possibly kill her.

A more appropriate weight would be 45 grams minimum with 50 grams being a good starting weight.
