when to put laying box

i got 3months old female gecko should i put laying box now or not?the moist hide that i use for now is tissue paper not to wet /dry but she keeps scratching it like shes digging it. size 5.5inchesif i put laying box what subtrate will i use? i got coco coir

I don't think a 3 month old gecko is going to be laying eggs. They dig at things sometimes, you can put sphagnum moss or similar into the moist box instead of the paper towel if you'd like. I use sphagnum moss, it needs remoistening every week or so.

...I wouldn't expect to need a lay box unless the gecko has been bred and is gravid.
