Im in the process of building my on selve system and was gonna use tile for the flooring overtop of MDF board, I was gonna use either heatmats or tape for each compartment and wondered whats the safest installation? Should I use a glass flooring under the tile or is there a safe way to use it with the mdf or plyfood flooring?

I know that this does not answer your question, but I just wanted to point out that wood is a very poor conductor of heat. I think you would be better off going with glass, if at all possible. Just my two cents :)

If you are placing the mats inside the tank then just placing it on top of the wood will be fine, but if you are sticking the mat outside the tank, then a glass bottom will be needed.
