I just picked up a thermostat for my new cage that I'm going to be setting up for my leo and just wanted to know where I put the probe for my thermostat. Do I put it on the sticky part of the heat pad or inside the cage? Right now in the tank I have I have my tile spaced so that the floor temps are around 98ish but in the moist hide it's 92 and in the dry hide that's on the hot side its about 94. I keep a paper towel under the dry hide so it doesn't stay too hot. Just to let you know I have 4 hides in my tank since he poops in one of the cool side hides and doesn't go into it for other than that.

That sounds too hot. The following temps are the max recommended in the hothide at the hottest point:

92 for Juvenile Leo's
90 for Adult Leo's

I'd suggest putting the probe inside the tank under the flooring at the hottest point. Tune this to the recommended temp and you will be fine. :)

Let me check the dry moist hot hide because that's where my leo spends 90% of his time. I just put in a bigger moist hide so he has no way to touch the floor on the hot side.

The probe must be in contact and measure the temp of the surface at the warmest spot on the floor. It's okay if it spends much of its time in the moist hide. If you create a range of temps in your tank, a temp gradient, it will move to and fro to thermoregulate as needed. For example, after feeding you will notice that your leo will seek he warm side of its tank as at lower temps it cannot digest its food.
