Where do you put it?

So i keep my thermostat sensor under my hot hide and sometimes the temp spikes up to around 34.5C not sure if its because of where iv put the sensor OR i think i may have a faulty thermometer as the temp goes from 30C to 34.5C in seconds.

Yes you are supposed to keep it by the hot side, we keep it right in the middle of the heat mat because we figured thats where we would get the most even temperature. If it goes from 30C to 34.5C in seconds I would say you have a faulty thermostat and would probably send it back and ask for a replacement. The point of the thermostat is to stop the fluctuations in temperature, ours barely changes.

It depends what thermostat you have, the Repti Therm 500r is the one I have and it keeps the temperature within a certain range 90-95, it dosen't idle at a certain temperature. Either is fine, just make sure you know how your thermostat is suppose to operate before thinking it is faulty.
