Where EXACTLY do I put the UTH on a 20 gal long

Hi.

I got a 10-20gal UTH and I want to put it on my 20 gal ong tank. Where exactly to I put it? All the way in one corner bordering the wall? In the middle of etiher the left or right 1/2 of the tank? Do I put it vertical or horizontal?

Also, When I take my temps do I take it from dead center or from a few inches around?

In the middle of either the left or right side. Then put a hide over it.

long ways, like parallel to the length of the tank? of vertical like slicing the tank in half front to back?

i say put it on the left or right of the tank
so the tank will be: warm(side)>mild(middle)>cool(other side)
