I have two smaller female leopard geckos and I was wondering which humidity cave people prefer out of the Exo Terra Gecko Cave Terrestrial Gecko Hide or Zoo Repti Shelter Cave? And which size?

Thanks!!

I have the Large Gecko Cave (2 actually) and I really like them. My boy and 2 girls are always hanging out in theirs.

They do have a few downsides though. They aren't very deep so if you are planning on using a substrate like coconut fiber you can only put in like an inch. Also they are zip-tied to the box so if you are using substrate you have to plug the holes or it will leak all over your tank. I know some people used aquarium sealant. I just took a dry paper towel, quartered it and put it under the coconut fiber. If you are doing paper towels or moss this is probably less of a concern.

Otherwise, it is plenty roomy for 2 large Leos at one time and mine love it. They're really heavy and well made so they aren't going to knock the top off and get dirt everywhere. I ordered mine from Josh's Frog's and they were only $18/each.

The Exo Terra cave (large) is nice, but if you are going to put coco-fiber or some other substrate in it, it has almost no lip to keep the stuff in.

The Zoo-Med shelter is nicer for use with substrate or as a lay box. I have a medium, and only one gecko will really fit into it. It suits my needs, but if you expect multiple geckos to be using it, think about upgrading to the large size.

Indyana made a good point I forgot. None of mine are currently "diggers" so I don't worry about a mess, but when it comes time for the girls to lay I will probably switch to a Tupperware. Like she said there is no lip and it shallow, so they'll most likely throw dirt out then.

For just a moist hide it works great though! Ha

The geckos don't care about appearance so tupperware is usually the most effective choice. Cut an entrance, candle it to remove sharp edges, and you're done. Put an appropriately sized flat rock on top for extra terrain for gecko. The exo terra stuff is really more just for human aesthetic sensibility.
