If you are looking for something not as pricey you can find a hovabator on ebay, but you have to get the 1602N model. Any other models temps are to high.

ive been using huvabators for 10 years, and i never had a problem. i got them from LLLreptile. but if you want bigger. i would just make your own. thats what i did.

I'm lucking into a used one that someone on my chicken forum is getting rid of because they got a bid sportsman.

So I'll be able to incubate my chicken eggs inbetween gecko hatches! I'm getting the auto turner for chick eggs and some poultry eggs all for $55 shipped!

I can't believe how lucky I got with this!

Sorry to highjack the thread ... but maybe asking about used incubators on any forums you're on might work for you too!

I just ordered 2 Hovabators from LLL Reptile......I am (im)patiently waiting. :main_yes: They should be here Thursday. They were $39.95 each.

We plan on ordering 2 Hovabators next weekend. I have heard mixed reviews but the ones from Natures Spirit were 495.00 with a thermastat. That is kind of out of our budget right now. It seems like more people like the HB 1602N then hate it so I am hoping for the best.

Hovabators can also be found at local feed/supply stores (like Tractor Supply). If you have one in your area it can save a few bucks and some time on the shipping.

I was hoping to do exactly that (save $ on shipping) by going to Tractor Supply. Turns out, our Tractor Supply does not have incubators. Not sure if they have them seasonally or not (spring, maybe?). I was so dumbfounded I forgot to ask. Didn't matter, anyway, as I needed mine sooner.

heres the thing. all the people that dont like hovas, are big time breeders that produce well over 100 eggs a season. if your getting less then 50 eggs a year, then theres no reason to pay so much more money.

Cool, i only have 3 females & will only acquire a few more for this season. What's an average amount of eggs per female?

That stinks. I actually set out to Tractor Supply to buy one and ended up finding a local "mom and pop" type farm supply on the way that had them. Apparently I didn't look like a chicken farmer and was the hit of the day when I said I was buying it for gecko eggs that I was being the "surrogate mother" for :main_laugh:
