why are superworms hard to breed?

I was researching superworms and notice alot of people say they are hard to breed. Other than them raising alittle slower and having to make the turn into pupae. Is there anything else I'm unaware of that makes them difficult?

You have to separate the larva from one another for them to pupate (which takes a while), and it takes while for the pupae to turn into beetles.

I have had good success with regular meal worms but don't really like them as a feeder their are so many more choices. but I have yet to successfully race a bunch of super worms. I keep them at the right temps about 78 to 82 °F and fed well. I don't have a problem getting them to pupate at all.

Just separate them and if they are ready will pupae in 2 weeks to a month if kept on the warmer side and in a nother 2 to 4 weeks I have beetles.

The beetle colony has numbered up to about 30 before right know I have 18 beetles. I have been waiting and waiting and sifted through them today and found about 4 or 5 teeny tiny worms. I am hoping that is the start of a half way decent hatch.

You should have success with proper temps and these steps separating, waiting, pupating, waiting for beetle making, mating, and waiting. and keep all stages well fed. well except for the pupae:D.
