Curious, I have a Male & Female mated pair of Geckos that have lived together since I got them with no issues (previous owners housed them together), recently I picked up another female and thought they would do OK in the same tank perhaps, but every time I put the new female in the cage the male shakes his tail and tries to nip her back and tail... Is it aggression? Will I just have to keep her in a separate tank? Is there anyway to slowly get them to be in the same tank?

Pictures are of my Bell Albino Male & Super Hypo Female and my new Regular female.

It could be aggression, or it could be attempting to breed with her. When a male leo comes in contact with a new gecko it will "rattle" its tail. If the other gecko rattles back it is basically saying Im a male too and they more than likely will attack eack other. If the gecko does not rattle back then the male knows that the new gecko is either a female or a immature gecko.
I would not house adult geckos together unless you are attempting to breed them and that should only be for a short time. It can cause alot of stress on the female. Also you should NEVER put a new gecko in with others without a quarantine period of at least 90 days to make sure it has no illness that can bea passed to the rest of your collection.
Also this thread should be posted in the correct place. You will get alot more responses there. This section is for site questions or issues.
