I couple of weeks ago I switched my baby, now juvie geckos (Angel and Blaze) from paper towel to spaghnum moss in their moist hides. Angel was good for a while then he had no appetite for mealies and vomited up the only cricket he ate. Next night no appetite at all even for waxworms. Just by chance I ran back in to check the temps before I left for thanksgiving. There it was, he had thrown up a bunch on moss. Why would he eat the moss? I quickly took all the moss out. After a my weekend of family fun, he's back to normal eating everything and pooping well. :main_thumbsup:

It has happened on a few occasions according to old posts here. I suspect it's accidental when they are eating their shed. Well I am just happy it came out and she is well.:)

Sometimes animals eat things to get vitamins and other things that the body needs. You should keep a calcium dish in the tank and dust more often if you think your gecko needs it.

i would keep the paper towel in there but... make sure your gecko doesnt eat the moist paper towel too. one of my geckos for whatever reason likes to eat substrate. before i figured this out he quit eating and then pooped out a ton of paper towel. it was shocking how much he passed. so now he doesnt have ANY substrate at all.

the general gecko keeper knows that sand isnt good because geckos can ingest it, but not many people know that impaction can happen with other substrates like moss or even paper towel!

it sounds like youve been keeping a very close watch on your geckos so keep up the great work!
