My female leo, cecil, is 2 1/2 years old. Just a few weeks ago, I went on spring break, and my friend Katlyn, who has a male, babysat her and they stayed in the same tank (50 gal). When I got her back, she was slightly thinner than normal, but I just figured she got bullied by the male for food, and I'd fatten her back up in no time. Well, a week went by, and she was eating normal, and I plumped her right back up. She has a calcium dish in her cage at all times, and at least 2 crickets in case she gets hungry. Also, I have been leaving a small dish of mealworms in there. Just last week, I noticed that her sides, down by her back legs, were getting slightly fatter, and I assume she's pregnant. Anyways, the past couple of days or so, she hasn't been eating (as far as I can see). Her feces is EXTREMELY smaller than normal, and she/ her tail has thinned out some. I'm really worried about her, as this is her first pregnancy (and mine!). Is it normal for a female to not eat as much when she's about to lay? She has been digging holes in her moist hide and making a mess all over the cage with it, so I'm hoping that's a sign that she's going to lay soon.

Basically, what I'm asking is...is this a problem, or am I just being paranoid? :main_lipsrsealed:

I have some pictures of her before she went to my friend's house and after.

Females tend to not eat before they lay eggs. If you can post a pic of her underside around her hind legs it will help to see if she has eggs. Digging is a sign she is about to lay. Expect eggs anytime from a few hours - 3 days.

yep she is definitely getting ready to lay. Congratulations! :p
When boy gecko and girl gecko get together they make sweet sweet loving and what you get is a pregger female. ;)
Damn prolific geckos...

Yeah some females will eat like demons during their pregnancy and some eat next to nothing. I would keep offering her food, especially right after she lays. Also if you can get a small dish of calcium and put it in her tank that would help. She can just go over and lick calcium whenever she feels she needs it.
Start giving her wax worms once a week or every other week and if your comfortable you can try feeding her a pinkie mouse.
Hope that helps!
