My female leo, cecil, is 2 1/2 years old. Just a few weeks ago, I went on spring break, and my friend Katlyn, who has a male, babysat her and they stayed in the same tank (50 gal). When I got her back, she was slightly thinner than normal, but I just figured she got bullied by the male for food, and I'd fatten her back up in no time. Well, a week went by, and she was eating normal, and I plumped her right back up. She has a calcium dish in her cage at all times, and at least 2 crickets in case she gets hungry. Also, I have been leaving a small dish of mealworms in there. Just last week, I noticed that her sides, down by her back legs, were getting slightly fatter, and I assume she's pregnant. Anyways, the past couple of days or so, she hasn't been eating (as far as I can see). Her feces is EXTREMELY smaller than normal, and she/ her tail has thinned out some. I'm really worried about her, as this is her first pregnancy (and mine!). Is it normal for a female to not eat as much when she's about to lay? She has been digging holes in her moist hide and making a mess all over the cage with it, so I'm hoping that's a sign that she's going to lay soon.
Basically, what I'm asking is...is this a problem, or am I just being paranoid? :main_lipsrsealed:
I have some pictures of her before she went to my friend's house and after.
