Will my gecko be more active as he grows older?

Hi, I was just wondering if adult leos are more active than juveniles. Sonny, my leo, is in his hot hide 24/7 unless he has to poo or get water. He's about 6-6.5 inches so I would say he's probably a juvenile, although he was 4 inches just 3 weeks ago >.< Anyways, I was just wondering if he will come out more often when he gets older or will he always be hiding? Is there anything I can put in the tank to make him come out more? It's also winter right now and the "cool" side of the tank is pretty chilly, so maybe that's why? Or maybe it's because I have a light on in my room? Anyways, thanks in advance :)

What is the temp on your hot side and your substrait? What do you use to heat the tank and do you use a uv type basking light?

Unless you're lucky enough to be blessed with a shy leo like my Eros... he's never out when I'm up... but I know he does come out and enjoy his tank when no one's looking.

You just got him and he isn't used to his new digs just yet. Give him time and he will become more comfortable coming out to see what's going on :)

I hope so :) because I would like to see him out more often. Today is exactly one month since I got him ^_^ Oh my he's gotten so big. Apparently, while I was out today, my dad walked in my room to close the window and he saw Sonny walking back to his hide. He already pooped before so he was out and about doing something :) I guess he just gets uncomfortable when there's people around. And thanks to everyone :) I was just wondering if there was a difference between juvie and adult behavior.

More then likely you will not see your leo during the daylight hours. If you go into the room and use a red light you will notice that the gecko is much more active. It won't be as active as say a Pictus but will be more active non the less

Lol, I see my 2.5 year old girl about once every 3 day when I feed her! She loves the underground hide I made for her so much that she pretty much spends 95% of the day down there but she's happy and healthy so that's what matters. Cresteds on the other hand, you see them way to much :main_laugh:

I don't think leo's are really the type of reptile that are interesting to watch , and the older they get the more "lazy" they get.

If you feed around the same time each time you might find that your leo starts to come out around then. It's not something you notice right away, but maybe in a few months.

Well...Sonny eats A LOT...like I can't believe how much he eats for his size xD but he knows when to stop, has never regurgitated, and his poop is fine so I don't think I should be worried about overfeeding because he's still pretty young. But my goodness, he's quite an eater haha He's been eating since the first few minutes I put him in the tank. I brought him home from Petco and didn't expect him to eat anything but when I dropped a mealworm in front of him it was gone in a second xD And he ate a few after that, too. Such a fatty xD

Yeah, I feed him around 8:30 and every day he's sitting in his hide waiting for me xD sometimes if he's really hungry he puts his 2 front feet on the rim of the mealworm bowl and just stays there to see if mealworms will magically appear xD so cute. But I noticed he's starting to venture out a little bit more around feeding time. Maybe I'll get some rock slabs from the pet store to put in the tank, and I'll make a hammock (I doubt he'll use it though xD)
