winter shipping

What do you guys do for winter shipping? I swear every time I got to send out these leos it's in the 40's day but drops under 30 or even 20 at night for where they'll end up. Then of course by weeks end it's nice and warm when there's no shipping. Would a 40 hr heat pack/s be ok?

Sometimes it's best not to ship when temperatures are below freezing. Heat packs sometimes tend not to work very well when it gets that cold.

Well MONDAY is a great day to ship from FL to any eastern destination with 1 40 hr heatpack Tell us the destination area atleast, because the Hub is what truely matters in most cases.

i used a heat pad once that actually froze solid. It then thawed out and began working again.

I don't like to ship under 40 at all. I'm sending these guys to Kansas and it's been below freezing every single ship day at night. But 40+ in the day. This has been going on for weeks now Dern weather.

I can feel your pain... :main_yes: I've been waiting to ship a few geckos for several months now... It's no good when both the sending and receiving ends are below freezing... I feel worse for the person waiting on geckos they plan to breed this season... At this rate plus quarantine it'll be 4-6 months before they have eggs/hatchlings...

In the end it all comes down to the safety of the animals and our desire to keep them... Is it worth the wait? Indubitably! :toff:

I agree warm to cold or cold to warm is not so bad(yet tricky at times), but freezing to subfreezing isn't worth the risk at all.... even to me.

You know what would really be cool? To have a device that recorded temps every 30 minutes or so......ship it out to several destinations and just see what kinda temps it recorded. I really think we all might be surprised.
