Hi everyone!

I need your help to see of my new leopard gecko feces lookes abnormal. I got her on last friday and so far she has been quite active and curious at dusk/night and has been roaming aound her cage alot. On her second day with us, last saturday, she eat 10 small mealworms (dusted in multivitamin) and yesterday she drank a lot of water. She pooped for the first time this morning and the majority of it was yellowish and white. Her breder had her on calcium sand (!) and I have her on a reptile carpet (planning to switch to tiles). Is this normal looking feces or do I need to take her to a vet? I know it might be a little to early to draw any conclusions since I've only had her for 4 days and she might stressed about her new enviroment, but I want to be sure so I can care for her properly.

I will post a pic (accidently a part of my cardigan "got stuck" in it, thats what tou see to the right of it)

I wouldn't worry TOO much just yet, because at least she is eating and SOMETHING is coming out. Couldn't hurt to take a poop into the vet for a fecal smear and float just to be safe. They don't need to see the gecko for that and it's usually pretty cheap, just make sure it's a SUPER fresh poop! If you can't get the poop to the vet right away you can put it in a ziploc baggie and put it in the fridge for NO MORE than 24 hours. I don't think she needs the extra light and heat, except from the heat mat. If she is in a room without much natural light I would just use a low wattage bulb (25 watt works well) to do the day/night cycle. Personally I have no lighting of any kind on Ozy's tank. Just her 30-40 gallon size ZooMed UTH hooked up to a HydroFarms thermostat set at 95.

Thanks alot for the advice! Her stomach is a bit bruised and swollen as well. Im going to give her a warm bath in case she is impacted and take her to the vet if it gets worse or if she stops eating/pooping.

With the warm bath use Spring Water and unflavored Pedialyte. Let her soak for 10-15 minutes and gently massage her belly in a downwards motion like from head to vent, but just on the belly. Then give her a couple drops of Olive Oil on her nose (BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET ANY IN HER NOSTRILS!) That should help get that gunk out of her. :) Do that and get a fecal to the vet ASAP.

Given that and the fact she was kept on calcium sand, I would at least call a reptile vet and just ask them what they think. The feces itself wouldn't worry me, but her stomach being bruised and swollen is disconcerting.

Are you sure about the bruising? It could just be the liver you're seeing through the skin. Impact ion results in loss of appetite, lethargy and no bowel movements.. These are not the symptoms you're describing. If its pooping...it's not impacted wait for the next one and see if anything changes. You have not had her long enough to have a norm to compare her to...she could just be a bit fat instead of swollen.
If you got this gecko 4 days ago, it's still acclimating and has been stressed which may cause indigestion. Also, your supplements most likely differ from the breeder's and this or a combination could be the cause as well. Give it more time before you spend money unnecessarily.

Thanks everyone! Her stomach is no longer swollen, maybe she ate to many mealworms. I now have great advice on how to give her a proper bath in case she needs :)

Food does go in and comes out She ate well last night and is very active so I think I will just observe her for a while. As B&B geckos mentioned she doesnt really show any symptoms of impaction and so I'll give her a few days and see if anything changes.

Maggot, do you think I should call a vet even if she seems to be doing well during my observation of her?

Thank you all again!

I don't know about your particular vet, but I know mine said it's okay if I just have a simple question (eg yellow feces), I can just call and ask instead of making an appointment and taking the gecko in. Just figured it's a relatively painless way to get your vet's opinion to see if they feel a fecal needs to be done or if it's something that'll just naturally stop. You certainly don't have to though. Is it still coming out yellow or has it gone to normal?
