Would A Bigger Egg Take Longer To Hatch?

My first clutch of two eggs hatched in exactly 40 days. My second clutch of only one egg is going on day 43, and nothing yet. The single egg however, is 1 and 1/2 times bigger than the two initial eggs were. Can the bigger egg require a longer hatching time? The conditions and temperature in the incubator are the same as for the first two and the egg still looks good. :main_huh: Bob

Still waiting for this "giant", single egg to hatch. It's going on 7 days past the expected date, but still looks as fresh as the day it was laid. Makes sense to me that a bigger embryo of the same species may take a little longer to reach it's hatching potential under similar conditions. (or i could be wrong) :) Bob

Right now I have them at 87 degrees. The first two eggs hatched in 40 days. She's getting ready to lay again soon, but I'm going to cool things down a little to try for females. Bob

Nope. I don't candle them or anything like that - it really isn't that important to me if they are or not. The first two eggs from the same pair were fertile and I've seen them mate several times between clutches. Bob
