I have used both methods, currently use a dual 7 watt light bulb home built. I have never lost an egg. I feel people make way too much out of incubating. They make it harder than it is. .:main_thumbsup:

Heres teh think with any incubator. All you need to acomplish is getting a steady temp, from 80f - 90f depending on what sex you want. If you can keep steady temps in a closet then there is no point in getting an incubator... as this is what they are suposed to do. I just find it hard to belive that a closed will (for example) hold a steady 80f with very little temp. fluctuations. If those home-made incubators will do the trick, then go for it, you'll savea few bucks. I tried those methods, and didnt get a constant temp so I just bought a 40$ hovabator and it works great. I would reccomend going forr the hovabator right off the bat, as you may end up spending 20-30$ on a home-made incubator just to find that it doesa not work as well as you planned, and then end up spending yet another 40$. If you have all the supplies laying around then that is a different story. So bottom line: do what you need to do to get a steady temp, that is suitable for leos. Whether means setting the eggs on a shelf in your house, or buying a hovabotor, it is what is needed. Hope I helped.
