I actually was a member of this forum a while back and this is how I learned how to take care of my son's gecko properly. Hermalina is my son's gecko. We have had her five years and we bought her as a baby. She has been acting weird lately. Not eating (which never happens) and the other night she rearranged the tank in a frenzy. She seemed healthy, so I didn't get it. The other day I noticed something strange in her hide, but I thought she had shed and it was skin. Today I went back to do some cleaning and she was shedding again. This seemed soon. I got her out of her hide to clean and moisten it and there they were. I thought they were organs or something, then it hit me. She is in there by herself. I never looked for this to happen. I'm relieved she is not sick, but should I be looking for anything else? She ate today, so I guess she's doing well.

She has been stepping on them for two days, so they are not in good shape.

I would take them out. If she has not been with a male they are infertile and will just cause a mess and bad smell that will get worse the longer you leave them in. As far as I know leopard geckos are not really maternal and don't guard or care for their eggs after they lay them so it shouldn't bother her to have them gone. Give her a dish of pure calcium so if she needs a bit extra in her diet from laying the eggs she can munch on it.

She laid them in her moist, hot hide. I took them out. They're pretty much crushed. Now I know what to look for when she gets crabby and won't eat. She must have been uncomfortable to mess up her house like that, or she was looking for a place to put them. How often will she do this? She's never been around a male.

Not sure there's a way of knowing how often she'll do it. Some geckos do it once and never again, some may have their own little breeding season party and lay as they would if a male were present. Check out the thread on ovulation. It has a lot of good pictures in it and you can check her belly to see if she's developing any more eggs. If she is, she probably won't lay more often than every 2-3 weeks.
