So My Fat Tails this year are doing great... One got a tail nip from a more aggressive sib, but all in all everyone is growing and doing well.

My LEO situation is just a BUST.

My "power breeder" females struck out this year.... My hi yellow female, who laid 9 fertile clutches last year laid 4 straight slug clutches, and doesn't seem to be laying any more. (she was also paired to a different male this year.)
MY Tremper albino girls failed to perform as well... (again to new mates) the giant was paired to a male DB - Nothing, the jungle giant was paired to my hi yellow male (one baby normal hatched) and then my light Tremper was paired to my Mack snow enigma het phantom, and nothing panned out from that.

My Raptor girl was paired to my MS enigma het phantom as well and I got the short end of the stick and hatched a normal. YAY!

The only other babies I got this year are from a Mack snow het bell to a bold stripe bell. This is where I got 1 normal MS het bell, one jungle MS het bell and one MS bell albino... At least I have lots of room now, right?!?!

I paired my bearded gecko sun glow to my rev stripe raptor this year, and being her first year, she laid ONE clutch. The eggs both hatched. ONE hatched a Stellar looking rev stripe sun glow raptor... awesome right??? NOPE. temps in the 'bator must have spiked somewhere along the line, and both ruby eyes are messed up. the sibling, a jungle SG (maybe an aptor) (last egg in the 'bator) hatched this morning... with NO EYES. I'm pissed. I was really hoping to see a positive for this last egg. but as you can see by this rant, it wasn't.

I still have a couple of females that I haven't paired up yet, as i was packing some weight on to them, and they MAY be ready soon, but if not OH well. This year's a bust in my books.

ONE question though...
Last year (which i already got all the slack from) I paired up a "possible het bell" to a "possible het Tremper" and got an albino. the albino is a Tremper, but the breeder of the female still swears she came from his bells. I have not bred her this year, and she's fat as fat can be without being obese. I wanted to make sure she wasn't retaining anything from the het Tremper. should I go ahead and breed her to a bell male to "test her" or should I breed her to a Tremper male, to possibly prove my het Tremper male isn't het both. (I don't have any bell females big enough to breed him to)

She is a SUPER DARK normal, and I kept a few of her babies from last year. All males. one is really dark and spotty like her...Aside from possibly hatching a Tremper, I think it'll make for some really dark babies.

Another route I can go with her is trying to breed her to my F1 WC male.. But if by chance an albino pops outta that I'll be even more pissed.

Thanks for reading, and see.... YOUR year doesn't seem that bad now does it....LOL

Cheers. :wall:

Hey Dj

You have to remember these are animals ,and whatever nature dishes out we have to accept.I know its frustrating Ive been through a lousy last year.Last year was not a good leopard gecko season for me either with some deformed babies, infertile eggs fewer eggs per females. This year is one of my best years ever.I decided to make the switch from the seperate calcium, vitamin and calcium with D3 regiment and switch to the ICB plus all in one powder. All my eggs were fertile,my females laid more and bigger eggs with no defects in the babies.i swear by the ICB now

We had similar years, in 2010 and 2011, although 2011 wasn't as bad.. 2010, definitely being the worst with a whopping six babies (the most we ever hatched was ~50 in 2009). In 2010, we generally either had unsuccessful breedings or infertile eggs. So, I feel ya!! Especially with that last egg, and the gecko having no eyes. We had the same thing except our last baby was missing half of its jaw when it hatched out. When all of this happens all in such a short period, it's really just a punch to the face. I'm so very sorry :( I can totally understand where you're coming from.

I would breed that possible het. Bell to a Bell male just to test her. You could have a double het.

I hope you have better luck in the future.

Ya, just bummed out. that's all... seeing the empty incubator so early in the year, and so little to show for it.

Also my best pairings never happened... (but don't want to rush the females)

Roger it DOES kinda make sense also about the ICB I used it last year, as well as years before.... This is the first year I did not. Athough dusting/supplementing on a regular basis, maybe this 'wasn't as good' .
I dunno, we'll see... maybe I'll have a LATE SEASON... as like I said, some of the girls just weren't ready.

cheers.
