Ugh... becareful installing this service pack if you have an AMD processor, it does not recognize it and may result in stressful (to me at least) reboot loops.

After more research I've found that if you run anti-virus then it also may have a conflict..

After a an hour and a half I've fixed my own computers. Sigh, that was a fun waste of time.

I have Xp SP3 on my desktop. I have no probs with it. But I have an Intell CPU. I have also installed it on 3 other computers. 2 were laptops. All have Intell CPU's. I will be installing it on a Laptop with an AMD CPU this week. I will let you know what happens. It is my wife's old laptop so it will be something to see what happens before putting it on a client's AMD CPU computer so no stress if it messes up like it did with you.

Tech just led me to start in safemode via F8 then edit a registry about intel something. I forget what it was. I replaced the decimal value from 1 to 4.

He explained it as telling the OS not to look for intel, use AMD processor.

It was just unexpected. I should have done research first, but I saw it on windows updates when I checked so I figured it was safe.
