I finally got my first leo eggs today...I'm soooo excited! Had to tell someone who might actually care ;)

I have them incubating on vermiculite...that's ok, right? That's what I've incubated all my cresteds successfully with.

I'll be sure to post pics when they hatch. Yippee!!! :D

Oh, another question...will 80 degrees be ok in the incubator? I know they'll take a bit longer to hatch that way, but they should still do ok, right? I'm just incubating cresteds in there too, and can't safely go much above 80 degrees for them (...since they incubate at much lower temps than leos for the most part).

Sorry for the last minute questions!

-Andrea ;)

Congrats! Yes 80 will be fine but expect all to be female.

Oh good! When crested season is over I'll incubate a few to be male...but I wanted mainly females. So, that's PERFECT! Thanks!!!

Yippie!!! I know how you feel, I still feel the same over every clutch I find. OOOO Wait till they hatch, better yet, wait till the first time you watch them hatch. I manage to watch over half my eggs hatch, because I work out of my home and stay up very very late, when they usually hatch. But I have had quite a few hatching in the middle of the day as of recent.

Just make sure the temps stay at a pretty stable 80 degrees. I started incubating my eggs for females at 80, and then went up to 82-83 for females just because if the temp accidently drops it could cause deformities, or bad hatch rates.

I would honestly look into another incubator for your leos. I mean, might as well right? Your just gonna have more eggs next season! (If your like any of us here :)
