Well...I decided to get a wee Leo and so I don't know the sex. It's been eating crickets since birth but I bought some mealworms and as soon as I put one in "Sam" went into hunting mode and gobbled one up.

Some quick questions....I have another mealworm in the cage which I dusted with vitamins and calcium with D3 and then placed it into the calcium bowl (that calcium does not have D3) and it immediately escaped and is walking around the cage. So here are my noob questions:

1. Is it ok that this worm is roaming about the cage or should I get a mealworm escape-proof calcium bowl?
2. I have reptile carpet down and the little bugger looks like his claws are getting caught occasionally - is this ok?
3. Has anyone made a total mess with the calcium and vitamin powders before - I feel like a 5 year old who can't open the flour with spilling all over himself.

Actually its not good to let the food roam as it may cause stress to your leo. A lot of times when feeders dont have food to feed them they will bite your leo in search for food. This mainly happens with crickets but it can happen with mealworms too. Its okay that he is sticking to the repti-carpet, but if you think it is too much of a problem then switch to tile, paper towels, or newspaper. I just bought tile for my older leos cage and it cost me $8.

I remember when I was going to get my Leos. They guy had a whole shed full of reptiles. There was kingsnakes and a GORGEOUS albino ball python. He said I could pick any, but I stuck with the Leos :p
