I thought this might be a good idea unless there's a link already and I can't find it. Anyhow with all the new leo owners & breeders this year I thought pics of both male/female undersides to show gender (babies 6m or less) might be helpful to some? You normally find adult underside pics not juvies. I don't have any very clear pics to post or would. The pic groovygecko posted the other day in classifieds gave me the idea since that is a young gecko.

I really like that idea. We post vent/pore pictures of all of our juveniles that we post for sale. Here are 2 examples:

male:

female:

Edit: The Male was hatched on 3/23/07 and the Female was hatched on 4/17/07. So both of those are very young animals.

I water mark all of my pictures. Someone using it as their background i dont care about, personal use is not copyright infringement. Someone using my pictures for a school project, or on their website, caresheet, classified ad, etc. That IS, I have talked to people who have blatantly stolen pictures from other people. So I am careful to protect myself.

Thanks for the pics, just to clarify things though, im also a first year breeder and have been struggling to sex juvies. both males and females can have he V correct? Only males develop the actual pores in the dimples though?

I'm planning to write something about breeding, sexing and so on for my website . . . May I ask for your official permission to use these two pics for that? Of course with the water mark and a copyright link to your website! :)

haha, sure you can seraphim. Link me to it when youre finished so I can check it out :)

Both males and female can have the v yes, FEMALES that are incubated hot can have dimples, that look very much like pores. Males however, have the actual pore/dots. a dimple looks more like an indent. here is a poor example of dimpling on a juvenile female:

LOL! sorry, I know why you put the watermark on, but I was trying to make a joke about the fat that someone would try to use a reptile..ummm parts as their background....sorry, I was a little blunt with that joke but ok. lol

This is a funny/educational thread. lol Yes I am also still having trouble telling the difference in juvies, I know what to look for, and I know what I see....but I just can draw the line between a female with pores and a male with...small holes that look like pores lol! Im gonna get one of those magnifying glasses RT recomended in his book.
