HA! I got seriously bit for the first time! There was a lot of blood! :main_yes:

Just thought I'd let everyone know....and just confirm the fact that Blizzards are beautiful....but looks are decieving. :D

I was so close to taking a pic but I had blood all over my hand and it was dripping onto the carpet...so I thought I'd spare you all.

Wise man say: Anything with a mouth can bite.

They usually won't draw blood. Most bites I have gotten are from mistaking my fingers for a huge worm. It's when they're defending themselves that they get you good.

It's been a personal theory of mine that there is some sort of anticoagulant in their saliva. From the bites I've gotten that I do bleed from, there has ALWAYS been much more bleeding than a "normal" cut of the same size.

Hum...that theory might hold some water because she was bleeding everywhere...literally (almost). I mean it got on the carpet and whatnot.

I personally have only been bitten once, and I think it was an accident. She however, has been bitten twice in the three days that we have had them.

I have never been bitten by a gecko yet. My son picked up my male albino a couple of years ago and then proceeded to put him back and pick up another male. I guess it was a bad idea since he got bit on his finger and yes there was blood. I haven't had the luxury yet. I've been bitten by a savannah monitor before and those suckers won't let go! There's a first for everything.

Many reptiles do in fact have some form of anti-coagulant in their saliva. I also believe Leopard Geckos do as I have bled profusely from Leo bites on at least 4 occasions. As a teenager I used to catch some monster sized water snakes on the banks of the St. Lawrence River when I was on vacation and wound up getting nailed several times. The water snakes are known to have anti-coagulant in their saliva and I bled about the same from them as from a Leo bite. The bites generally seem to be painful and certainly the blood flows freely for some time. :main_evilgrin:

I've been lucky enough to have, as of yet, managed to avoid getting bitten...A few of the gecks have tried to get me once or twice (usually b/c I was doing something to/around thier heads, but none of them have actually gotten me yet.....not looking forward to the first time that happens...lol My kenyan sand boa has gotten me once or twice though...but he's so small it basically felt like a paper cut (that and he wasn't really trying to get me...just chase me away).

Yeah, I guess I am happy I got bit finally. It's like playing paintball, you know you're going to get hit, but you are dreading it because you know it's going to hurt. But once it happens, you know what to expect the next time around.

All I was doing was holding him, he calms down and the BAM all of the sudden he riles up and gets all excited. Then he calms down again. I was sitting on the ground with him and I said "I think I'll put him away before he gets too aggitated." Well, I spoke too soon because as soon as I said that he turned around and wopped me a good one right on the tip of my pinky finger. The finger nail has a cut in it where his top teeth got me, and the bottom teeth got my skin. O well, I will get used to it. I still should handle him because I don't want him getting any worse.

Yipes! I've never gotten bit before and I'm SO glad it never happened. I tend to be jumpy myself during those types of situations. LOL. I hold my geckos as often as they'll let me, but if they show any signs that they don't like what I'm doing, they go right back into their home :)

Yeah, that's the funny thing. I was picking him up to put him back and he got a 'tude with me. :D O well, he's still gorgeous and will hopefully mellow down with time. We've only had him since Tuesday, he'll get used to us...or I'll get used to him biting me. lol. Either way, he was still a great find and matt and I are happy with him. :)
