Today in my Entomology class, we had a guest lecturer who spoke about insects as food! It was really interesting. At the end of it, she took a hot frying pan full of butter and dumped a bunch of live mealworms on to it!
I felt really sorry for them because they squirmed around and then just fried to death... it just seemed sad to me even though I'm used to watching them get crunched by my leo!
So they passed around the fried mealies and let everyone try some. I was too scared to eat one because i was a little horrified from the massacre lol. But a lot of people ate them and said they had a weird texture or tasted like popcorn. The lecturer said that raw, they taste like peanut butter and are very nutritious for us.
So I was just wondering, have any of you guys ever eaten a mealworm?? Or any other types of insect for that matter??
