So I just purchased the reptitemp digital thermometer...how accurate are these? I realized Teak's warm side was WAY too warm so I'm glad I got. I was using an UTH and CHE but with the temps being too high, I took down the CHE to lower the temps. The thermometer is reading 94 degrees...but the floor, which is slate tile, does not feel like its 94 degrees. Is it normal for the floor to not really feel as warm as it should be or did I buy a faulty digital temp?

Well, 94 degrees is lower than human body temp, so it really shouldn't feel too warm to the touch. It would be in comparison to feeling someone's forehead. I have an infrared thermometer that is very accurate. I have some cheaper digitalls that were off as much as 10 degrees. I have not used nor do I know much about your thermometer, but I always say its worth spending the money on an infrared heat gun or thermometer. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Maybe someone on here has used or does use that model. I use 1 digital with probe that stays in the tank. I used my infrared to get my tank heat levels perfect, then I just watched what the digital was reading and just make sure it stays consistent.

It is a infrared thermometer so I'm assuming from the price and reviews that its accurate, just wondered about the floor temp. I guess I should of figured it wouldn't actually feel hot like when someone has a fever...but thats a good comparison about feeling someones forehead. Well, from the temp it is reading, it seems accurate, I'll just monitor it. Thanks :)

If its infrared I'm sure it's very accurate. You should be good. I'm using slate too and did a similar thing. I was wondering why I couldn't get about 89 on the warm side. When I got the infrared and did temp test I realized it was close to 100 at the hottest spot. Luckily there was a good gradient in the tank. It's surprising how well the slate really pulls in and keeps the heat.

Yeah the same thing happened to me...thank goodness there was a good temp gradient for teak to go too. The warm side was reading 104! Crazy!!! I'm glad I got it because I had noticed he wasn't going into his warm hide and always sitting in his moist hide. But I think I have things under control so hopefully the temps will be just right!

Yeah, but beware. I noticed a huge increase in hunger (it's a good thing). They were both doing well before, but you can really tell when they are truly comfortable and happy. I'll share a pic of my 2. Excuse the sand in my males pic, I just moved his literbox and he was mad I moved it.

These are my 2
