Ok I posted this over at Dendro board and thought maybe some of you guys here would find it interesting, and I'll link to that post rather then re write the entire thing but here are a few videos of some vivarium special fx things I've been working on. Details on parts/products used are in the DB threads and I am much more active over there...It is entirely possible I will forget about this thread, so contact me/participate over there if possible ...I'll try to remember to check back here though, as I'm hoping to get back into geckos soon.
Holographic sound activated LIGHTNING cloud (Proof of concept) - Dendroboard - Dendroboard
Holographic Faerie flys through cave in viv: Proof of concept... - Dendroboard - Dendroboard
They are proof of concepts where I just kinda threw the parts together to see if they would work like I wanted....looks like they will. Soon I'll start putting them all together in an Actual vivarium a long with some other FX ideas I'm working on.
(I suggest watching all in HD and Fullscreen to get the best effect)
Hologram fairy cave... (Notice the particle fx falling between where the floor meets the back wall, and me putting my hand behind the clear screen later...Sorry for the visible duct tape, rough like I said)
(Sound will be muted in final version)

Grrr...STUPID 1 video limit... the other FX are in the next post.
Note:
These are rough proof of concept videos, except for the firefly lights...that is an off the shelf product from Lowes and other stores, easily incorporated into a viv while building your background.
I basically just threw the pieces together for these FX ideas to get an idea how it would work and look...A more polished presentation in a fully planted/hardscaped vivarium will be coming soon...along with more Special FX in that viv like fiber optic stars, an aurora borealis FX, floating islands, under lit ponds, etc...
Suspending the fog with fans worked ok...I just needed 2 foggers and a better fan setup, but even with the ghetto rig you see in the video, though it is hard to see, I got most of the fog to stay at the top of the tank and create a "cloud" like effect...instead of a low lying ground fog that you would typically get with a fogger system.
