Hey everyone. I wanted to share the 10 gallon vertical I finished tonight. its actually more of a paludarium than terrarium, but oh well. the water portion will house a male betta. I'm not sure what I will have for the land side, but it may be something along the lines of a crested or a tree frog. We'll see. Any questions/comments are welcome.

I used the same method as my 20 vert project. if you look at the picture you'll see the construction. I used screen window trim and corner pieces to make the door, vent and bottom trim rings. the glass on the bottom is siliconed to the back side of the tank rim, then the bottom trim ring is siliconed on the outside of the tank rim to make it look more professional. the door is the same thing as the bottom trim ring, only the glass is silicone directly to the door ring leaving about 1/8" to allow the glass to clear the tank rim. the vent is the same thing again, but I actually used the window trim as it should be and put screen in it. the vent is then siliconed to the tank rim. the hinges are held on with GOOP. Goop is a silicone based contact cement. it remains flexible and is more forgiving for hinges. another tank I built, I used 3M or loctite tape for the hinges and handle. the door is held shut by a cabinet magnet glued/taped in place.

Where do you get the corner pieces and window screen framing? Also did you cut the plexiglass yourself?

lowes and home depot have that stuff. i know lowes will cut glass/plexiglass for free also. i'm in the process of doing this same project, but i took out the side of the tank that will be the new top and i'm replacing it with a screen, then making the whole door one sheet of glass with a piece inside the lip of the plastic to hold in the substrate.

might be a little small for a crested. a frog might be best since they would have an easier time getting out of the water if they accidentally fell in.
