Hey Guys,
So i just got a 125 gallon fish tank its pretty long(it just looks like a 20gal. long in 125 gal. version lol) so anyways im thinking about converting it into a leopard gecko hbitat, would that be a good idea? if so how many can i put in?(females of course because im not breeding.) I'll try to make it a naturally as possible. Do you guys know if i need a lid or how i go about getting one for that size? maintaining heat? ect.. THnks!!!! any help would be very great.

I think I would place 3 heating pads on the bottom one on each side and one in the middle to give them different zones. That way they don't ever wander too far away from heat.

I'd say that you'd be safe putting 7 or 8 well-mannered lady geckos in a tank that size. Just make sure there is sufficient heat as well as a good 10-15 degree gradient so the geckos can thermal regulate. You may want to consider heat tape instead of pads, but I'm not really positive... Also, make sure they have plenty of hides; at least 2 per gecko spread out around the tank to have a nice balance of hot, cold, and moist hides.
You don't need a lid unless you have other pets who might make a snake of your lizards. If you get the dimensions for the tank you could find a lid for it online, though it'd probably be pricey.
As far as making it natural, I'd suggest lots of fake plants and slate tile flooring. If you search back through old posts, a lot of people have done some cool vivarium stuff on a smaller scale.

That size tank should be fine as long as you do heat it properly and stuff. I would sugguest getting a lid, just as a safety thing . (Not sure on where to get one, you could make it yourself with wood and chicken wire) As far as heating, heat tape would be fine for about half or a little over half of the tank, or even a few heating pads. You always want to go UTH with leopard geckos. Hope this helps.

4-5 Female leos with enough hides and space should be totally fine.
