Anything I can do to stimulate the appetite of my new guy? He doesn't seem to have lost any weight but from the get-go his tail has been relatively skinny.

I'm starting to get worried now, he shows absolutely no interest in food.

Maybe it's just because I'm used to my monsterous female who eats 2 large superworms a day.

How old is your Leo?

Mine did not eat for a month.

I gave it medication for a possible infection.........medicine for pin worms.....and than finally gave her a pinky worm and she has been eating since.

Alright, here's some details..

- His hatch date was 4/25/08.
- Weight unknown (I don't have a scale).
- He is housed alone.
- I'm offering mainly superworms as this is what he was fed before he came to me. I've also offered wax worms to no avail.
- He is rather fearful of me, tends to growl when disturbed, I keep handling to a minimum.

seems still not comfortable with his/her surroundings for some reason. also try cricket's or roach something that is a little more animated.

:) Four months old is on average making him 28 grams but from you indicating the tail size, I would guess he is not average at this time. Get off the Super Worms and go to meal worms. ...cut one in two and rub it on his mouth, let him lick his way to getting back to eating. But keep trying to tease him into eating on his own. Important that you get him to trust your hands.......wet them (fist not finger) before letting him pop you.(hands = drink) Don't let him think he won..... Put them near him again, wet, until he licks or stops being scared and popping you. (it wont hurt the side of your hand). Yeah he will stress a bit but not but a few days at the most, if you continue making it a daily routine............
take care. HJ

Thanks for the good advice! I'm going to give that a try.

I'm making a food run tomorrow and I'll see if the local pet store has sizable mealies.

Good news, I checked this morning and not only did he come out of his hide to greet me, but there was a sizable superworm missing from the bowl. I checked everywhere to make sure it wasn't just an escapee. :) Here's hoping I don't end up finding it later.

He seems comfortable in his enclosure today, though.

Have you double checked your temps with a thermometer probe on
the floor of the terrarium?

Yes. I actually increased the tempurature by about 2 degrees (92 at the warm spot, now) a little bit and that seems to have helped in stimulating his appetite. Worms are periodically disappearing from his bowl and I do a thorough check of his tank to ensure they're not just escapees.

They seem to love the temps, too. Always laying around the warm spot of enclosure with their bellies on the ground. :)
