This is one of my babies that I had to put down. She was born with a really bad hump where her neck is. She was born weighing 1 gram and was slowly gaining weight she got up to 4 grams. She is a special gecko to me becuase she was a fighter. She would always miss the food the first but she never stopped trying and she would work and work until she finally got it. This was the first gecko that I ever had to put down and it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I know I sound like a baby but this trully was hard to do. I feel like I ended a life. I took it away. And it is killing me.

Brandon, I know what a difficult decision it is to end the life of something you love. I know that you realize that sometimes it is the most loving thing you can do. Yet even justifying it in your mind doesn't always work for the heart. I'm so sorry...

I know exactally what you're going thru. I'm currently trying to make up my mind if I should put one down or not. He stopped eatting in the beginning of April, started feeding him banana baby food in May, then slurry shortly there after. Then all the sudden he started eatting on his own again, he was even up to 4 crickets a day and gaining weight fairly fast. I thought we finally beat it. This was last month. Last night I weighed him and he's down to 5 grams. His spine is sticking out, his ribs are showing, and his hip bones look razor sharp against his taunt skin. Not to mention how scrawny and twig-like his tail is. It kills me to have to make a decision like that, but which is worse? Giving him ever chance and hope he'll pull through? He's been a fighter this long, where as his cagemate gave up a little over a month after not eatting. Or decide to do it and not have to worry if he's in pain and finally find out what's been making him and two other so incredably sick. Between having pets growing up, and even volunteering at an animal shelter for a number of years I thought this wouldn't be so difficult. But it is. Sadly, it just one of the things owners will have to deal with eventually. Unforunetally sometimes eariler rather than later.
