okay well recently i started to get back into the reptile world(after becoming a little more financially set) well anyways..i came across a really really cheap 75 gallon tank with a wooden stand($50) and came up with the idea of using it for a handful of female geckos(fed mealworms because of the large space) id really like to deck this thing out too, kinda stoked...

but im open too any other ideas out there. not set in stone yet and im really interested in any kind of snake but pretty open other then that..

anyways let me know, im really stoked about this and i need ideas :).

ill try and post a picture of my gecko sometime since im new too the forums..if i can get my camera on the phone working..

well it would make a good snake tank and also a leo tank

for leos you could make a rock wall and stuff make it look really good

i would if i had the space

I'd get a bearded dragon in the 75, but just because they could make better use of all that space. I wonder if the Leo's would feel insecure in such a big tank. As for decking it out, I would certainly start with some nice looking tile, and maybe even that exoterra background stuff. I forget what it's called, but it's kinda yellow and lumpy.

well i thought of bearded dragon, but the crickets have a pretty bad smell. do they HAVE to eat crickets? would mealworms be an okay diet?

We just sold one of our beardies so that we could use his 60 gallon for more geckos lol.. but we've caught the "gecko-bug", we're totally addicted ;)

I would make it into a really decked out Gecko tank! Have a swiming pool, seprate hides for each gecko, Rock wall, Basking spot, fake or real plants for hiding, Nice tile, Mabey even a little waterfall into the pool. It would look so cool. If you want a picture I could draw one for you.

Okay i will draw one up soon. Personaly I wouldnt get dragons because I would like 5 or 6 geckos instead of 1 or 2 dragons. I think you will be able to see more cool stuff with 6 geckos and you will enjoy it much more!

Can I get a pic of the tank and some dimentions?

As big of a leo fan that I am, I actually disagree with you on that one, Sidork. Beardies are diurinal (day dwellers) and have a rep of being quite friendly and social. I think you would get alot more activity out of a beardie than you would out of a leo, at least during the day.

As for a swimming area... being desert reptiles leos don't really swim. If you want a water area, just make sure it doesn't come above their bellies, as most leos will freak out if they can't touch the bottom at all times. Being such weak swimmers, it's pretty easy for them to drown as well. I do agree that a waterfall and pool would look awesome, I'm just a bit worried about their safety and whether or not they would even use it in the first place.

I do think that, in general, leo tanks look better than beardie tanks, but it all really comes down to... which animal do you think you will like better?
I can't wait to see whatever you do with the tank... and $50 for it and the stand is a serious steal :main_thumbsup:

Beardies are the friendliest reptile there is, definitely awesome creatures, and you can handle them (they will set on your shoulder) for hours :D Beardies take a little bit more work though, as leopard geckos are the easiest reptile to take care of.

Ya, I have nothing against dragons but I just like leopards better because of the cool tank you can create but if you didnt want a cool tank then go for a dragon.

rankins dragons......half the size of regular beardies but the essentially the same care and temperament! You could make a pretty neat setup for a few of them in a 75..........only downside is that they're harder to find.
