It has been 82 days since the first clucth of the season was laid. It has been incubating at 81-83 degrees. One of the two eggs went bad at around 60 days. This egg is currently bright white and when candled almost solid black. I have been anxious for this baby to hatch!!!

Yes, that would be the way most of us would be at 84 days......Just a little humor here.....Are you starting a poll or are you wanting someone to tell you to open it?............I would have opened it at 75 days but others would let it be. Myself, I have seen times the gecko seemed to need help on getting out.....now I think about it at 75 days. But its your call.
I don't think you are going to " Stop " any developing that has not already been stopped if you "take care" in assisting it out, doctor.
All black could be a gecko image or the egg may be solid/gone bad.....
may the gecko force be with you.....HJ

Opening one

LMAO!!!!:main_laugh: Thanks for the advice HJ. I might give it a few more days and if it hasn't hatched I will open it.

I can loan you my manual of "Opening a Gecko egg 101" and surgical tools if you like. (more humor, since you were so easy on the other)............I would be interested in the outcome though. The last one I opened was alive and when I pipped an opening it came "shooting out" forceful like I had turned on a water hose. take care. HJ

Lets just say you won't have to worry about this little girl anymore. R.I.P. The egg was completely good when I left for baseball at 5:30 but when I cam to check on it again at 11:00, I found the egg deflated and mushy. I prayed for the best and opened the egg to find a suffocated/drowned completely developed and nice patterned normal tang het blizzard. The poor thing had been trapped inside of the sac. With a bubble of air in its throwt. I am devestated I had been waiting 90 days for this little girl and it ended in a sad state. I am having a horrible year so far. 10 eggs= 3 gone bad= 2 going bad= 1 insuccessful hatch= 4 looking fertile. Last year 4 eggs= 4 beautiful babies as a first time breeder. I guess it was just beginners luck.

I will post some pics later.

It's a sad part of the process we try to learn from.........Sorry for the way it turned out for you.
I have opened them at 75 -- 80 days to find either great news ....or sad early terminated geckos, that more time incubating would have done no further good............................
It now is not a fearful decision to open one, like it was at first.
Again sorry.....take care. HJ
