The first guy was born a week ago and the picture was a couple days ago. It was born at .9 grams. I had to help it shed its first time because it couldn't get it all off itself. After that first shed its been doing great and eating tiny mealworms on its own. Its still a third of the weight that the raptors hatched at yesterday.
Oh and no its definitely not normal for them to be that skinny when they hatch. I was worried she wasn't going to make it at first. What happened is that it lost its yolk on its way out of the egg. Usually they need to absorb their yolk before or right after they come out, but since she lost it she wasn't able to do that. I have full confidence in the little girl now though!
