A Definitive Guidebook?

As most people should know (just because I spend an obscene amount of time on here lol) I have a small collection of geckos. And I'm always looking for good sources of information because I didn't have any 8 months ago, so this is all fairly new to me. I have a guy I go to for all my questions because he's had/bred/sold reptiles for God knows how many years, but he closed shop today for a few months so I'm a little bit on my own now. And not to offend anyone, but sometimes the answers to questions I see on here are so out there that half the time I don't know who to trust with info lol because everyone has a different method for everything so then it's just so messy.

Sooo - is there like, the one, single, almighty source for all leopard gecko info? And I guess if anyone knows one for Cresties that would be awsome too. I have a book but it's very basic.

Thanks!

Well, you should check this out, this guy has been breeding leopard geckos since 1995. He has this pretty good caresheet that i used, so i think this is worth a look at. He also mentioned a book at the very end of the page, so you should read that too.

It also has printable version, so you dont have to look this up, just remember where you put the papers =)

check him out here ----> http://www.geckosetc.com/htm/care.htm

That is a GREAT care sheet for sure. One thing on there that I do not agree with is the use of a dimmer to adjust your temps (and sand is not good either). You need to use a thermostat to control the UTH or your temps will bounce all over the place. Other than that this care sheet is spot on. Even with a thermostat, expect your temps to be in a 3-4 degree range. 86-90 might be good to shoot for though many here use higher temps. Once you get your thermostat carefully adjusted by using a good thermometer (placed on the floor of the warm hide), it should maintain that temp range nicely. Check it regularly though to be sure all's functioning properly. Other viewpoints welcome.....

Oh how I wish...unfortunately there is no definitive guidebook out there. The reason is because there are different ways to care for a leo that people agree and disagree on. Several of the breeders on here have care sheets on their websites that can give you more information.

And that's the problem! lol Everyone has their own way of taking care of their geckos, so it's all very confusing for someone who is just starting. And I haven't found one that has a lot of detail in it, it's just a care guide and that's it. They don't go into medical problems or deal with "if this is happening, do this" issues. There really should be one big book of everything leopard gecko.
