A Dilemma

Hey everyone,

I'm having a bit of a dilemma. Recently I reserved a beautiful SHTB leo girl from a breeder that I will be picking up in January at a show. I honestly am so excited to have this little girl as she will be my first leo ever.

However, recently her breeder also announced he has AFTs available. One of which I am really interested in as well.

The problem? My mother will probably only let me have one reptile in the house. Now, seeing as I am moving out in August this isn't too much of a concern.

But now I am faced with the choice of choosing which one to get first...

On one hand I really like this leo girl (already have named her and such like).. On the other hand I've been looking for an AFT for a long time (Portland is certainly not the best place to find gecko breeders in general).

x_x Wow, I'm just really at a loss for what to do.

Well you reserved the leo so I would say that its good form but its up to you since its from the same breeder. :)

Ooooh, that *is* a tough choice. I have both, and they're both fantastic. The AFT's are a bit more calm, but the leos are also pretty calm and have great color!! A lot of AFT's only eat crickets (check what hers eats), so if you don't like crickets, leos will tend to eat mealies more. (Of course, that being said, I have one leo that I *still* can't get to eat mealies. Ugh!! And my AFT's all eat mealies, but they were raised on them so...........)

Ultimately, the choice is yours. You can't go wrong either way. Good luck!! :main_thumbsup:

get them both... wats the difference from 1 to 2 geckos. Although this is a person who has 13 reptiles in the house with no plans on stopping.

I say always go with your first judgement/choice. If you reserved your leo and even gone as far as to name her, then that leo is for you. Like everyone else has said, it is ultimately your choice.:D

Well, Try asking your mom if you can have two. My mom was REALLY strange about the gecko thing but she likes them now. Maybe you can tell her that having two will help you develop more responsibilty. :)

If you REALLY like the AFT more, I would go with what makes you happy. That's ultimately what this hobby is about. Just talk to the breeder and see if you can get the AFT instead.

If you like both and can't get your mom to budge on getting two, I would suggest getting th Leo because you've already reserved it and the breeder is expecting you to take it.

I'm going to try to convince my mother to let me have both. If that fails then I will probably just get Sasha and hold out for an AFT later on. Still, it is a tough decision. Hopefully I can persuade my mother... EDIT: Yeah. my mother still is really weird about the gecko thing. Although she has become a lot more accepting than she originally was.

It really isn't too much of a big deal for me to wait to get an AFT. I already have to wait to get a male for Sasha so it's not that bad.

Either way I would love to get Sasha.

I guess the dilemma stems from the fact that I originally wanted to get into AFTs and breed them. But instead since there weren't any breeders in my area I got into leos. Both are equal to each other in my book, but someday I wouldn't mind keeping both.

The breeder is really nice and seems understanding. He even told my not to put any money down ahead of time just in case I changed my mind or found other purchases at the show.

So yeah, I'm still a little confused... But I'll try my best to work this out. Best case scenario would be if I could bring them both home.
