:main_cool3: Hi all! I was wondering what a good humidity level is outside the humid hide? Also, what is a good process for gut loading meal-worms and crickets , as I have never done this? Thank you - Jay

Welcome to GF. In general, humidity should be low, but I just don't worry about it. I also live in New England and sometimes the humidity in general is high because of the weather. The geckos seem to do just fine. I would recommend against misting them, and otherwise don't worry about it (unless you live in Indonesia or something).

I believe with gutloading that some people may actually specifically gut load their feeders for a certain number of hours before feeding. In my case, I keep all my feeders in gutload bedding. I buy my gutload in bulk from progeckos.com and keep the feeders in it all the time (the stuff that the mealworms come in from the pet store is not all that nutritious). For the crickets I have shallow dishes with water gel crystals and the mealworms and superworms get vegetable scraps.

Aliza has answered all your questions, so now I'm going to ask you a question. What type of supplement(s) are you dusting the gecko's food with?

They are not here yet but I was going to dust them with Reptical and Herpavite, and then have some calcium without D3 that they can lick in their tank.

I keep my mealworms in a huge 10 gallon pail with oatmeal and carrots thrown in for moisture. They really like the carrots which I think is great because they have a lot of vitamins. My crickets I don't buy as often because to be honest I don't like them. When I do have them they are also in a huge bucket with carrots and potatoes. That way they are always just munching. A little goes a long way with the crickets. if I put in too much it rots and it is just gross to clean out. So far i only have a few cricket fatalities and non of my meal worms die.

I don't keep mine in the fridge because I want them to turn into beetles and make more worms. I keep my waxworms in the fridge. Meal worms are pretty easy to keep. I like that I don't have to keep buying them. Watch this video. How To Raise Mealworms - YouTube Or yes just put them back in the fridge and it will keep them dormant so they don't turn into pupae or whatever. It takes awhile tho for them to turn into pupae.

I use and recommend Repashy Calcium Plus. Simply dust your feeders with it every feeding and never worry about needing any other supplement. :)
