A few roach questions....

OK so I got my dubia roaches today WOOOO! :D My whole family thinks I'm nuts for being so excited about getting roaches in my house :main_laugh: and when I showed my mail lady what she had been packing around in that box all day she FREAKED OUT rofl.... really made my day:p Also tonight we had our first 'oh neat!' moment with the roaches, some of them have already molted and they are all white now (guessing they had molted). I showed them to my daughter (who up until now has been afraid of most bugs) and she got all excited asking if it was an albino roach:D :D Also got her holding/playing with them when we first got them in the tub, that in and of its self shocked me. :)
So now on to my questions....
1) I've got the water crystals hytrated and put in a glass pillar candle holder (3inches across maybe 1/3" high outside lip), what I'm wondering is are they smart enough/able to get up to the crystals? Or should I put something like freezer tape around the outside to give them something to climb up? I have their food in the same dish and I saw a few roaches in there just after I got them set up (36Gal rubbermaid container) so I think they will be fine but just want to make sure.
2) Also how often do I change the water crystals out? I mean I got a good amount with them and I know where to get more when I need it so not worried about using them up I just don't remember reading anything about how often to change them out.
3) I have them on a heating pad set on low and with the water crystals in there I had heard that just the crystals would keep it humid enough for them to be happy. I've also heard people say they mist their colony. Is that needed (the misting) or not?

Sorry for all the questions :) Just want to make sure things are done right.

1) I usually prop small pieces of egg crate around the dishes to make it easy for the nymphs to get in and out... the adults don't have any trouble with the plastic dishes I use.

2) Just add more hydrated crystals when the ones in there run low. Sometimes I'll mist them a little to rehydrate what is left, but once they get too low or too dirty, it's time for fresh.

3) I mist the sides once every few days, but with a big container of water crystals I'm not sure it is necessary. I've skipped it for a week or so now and then and not noticed any ill effects. However, when I do mist it, I see many roaches immediately sucking up the droplets, so they seem to appreciate it.
