Yeah, these aren't pets, but the other headings suggest that people are posting wild bird pictures here as well.

Avian rehab would be a fun challenge. Maybe someday I'll do some. My next goal is just to save my money and someday have enough land that I can find most of these on my own land. They wouldn't be pets, but I'd still have ready access to them.

hahaha.. you'd need a swampy area with dead trees for the red headed and the rest would follow.

I am quite a bird nerd and actually did the "world series of birding" this weekend ;) I had all these, hairy, flicker and YB sapsucker nesting in northern NJ. Red headed WP are in serious decline from habitat destruction and european starlings stealing nesting cavities due to starlings nesting earlier .

Bill if you ever want to talk birds... PM me :)

Sorry, I'm slow getting back to this thread. Around here, there are plenty of swampy areas with dead trees. If I were willing to spend serious money, I could find an area that would meet that description.

I'm glad you brought this thread back up, I'd missed it. Those are amazing shots! Keith got a pic of a tiny woodpecker in our front yard. I'll have to post it and see if you experts can ID it.
