Have you noticed the number of posts on the forum every day about geckos not eating? Once you screen out the ones from the people that just got their geckos a few days ago, the obviously impacted geckos and the sick geckos with skinny tails, there are still a lot of posts like this. I even heard this from gecko owners at the Manchester show today. I'm wondering what's going on? One theory I have is that the geckos are regulating themselves. I weighed all my breeders last June in mid-breeding season and again in October before they stopped eating for the winter. In some cases there was a 20 gram difference. Most of my geckos (who have pretty much not been eating consistently for months) now weigh about what they did in June. Just this past week, a few of the holdouts ate on their own for the first time. Of course, they didn't eat at the next feeding period! I have a feeling that geckos who remain alert and active and who are either not losing weight, or are losing weight very slowly may be OK in their not eating. Not all geckos are like this but many seem to be. I think the hardest thing for us to do is to keep offering and stop obsessing and worrying about it in the absence of other symptoms.

What do other people think?

Aliza, i posted a thread in this section titled" leo digging in his heels" a few threads down about my male leo that I got that hasnt eaten since march 2nd.Your right we do obsess when our leos arn't eating.i stopped obsessing a long time ago.As long as there no other symptoms they will eventually eat.On the other hand speaking personally i need to eventually find a solution or take some action when the hunger strike goes into the 5,6,7,8th week.If you can give me some input on my thread I would appreciate.

I'll look at your thread tomorrow when I'm not so tired. If it makes you feel any better, I have several geckos who ate for the first time this week since JANUARY! I do have some ideas, which I'll share in your thread tomorrow (I'll try to remember) and I think probably an article for Gecko Time is brewing.
