Hi all i have been thinking about getting another lizard... I started with a leopard gecko because thats a good starting reptile i heard...

Well, i think i am addicted to them now and need some advice should i get a amphibian? another reptile... what would still be good for a newbie like myself.. i can't decide and i don't want to get overwhelmed thanks for any input... Todd..

For care much like a leopard gecko, you could get a fat tail gecko. If you want a similar size gecko that can be handled, think about a crested gecko. No heat needed, but they are arboreal so you'd need a taller tank and should consider a planted tank. If you want a larger, rewarding lizard, think about a bearded dragon. I'm not that into amphibians or snakes, so I have no opinion.

I have a baby tiger salamander, but he's growing up extremely fast and its awesome to watch him change, he's bright yellow and black, they are really really easy to take care of, the only thing is they are not holdable, it's not so much they don't like it or tolerate it, its just not good because they are an amphibian so they absorb everything through their skin.

I second the Crested Gecko idea, I just got one and he's nice and easy to take care of.

I'm not an expert, but I am kind of like you. I started out with a pair of female leo geckos. Now I have added a blue tongue skink and schneider skink.

My ideas are, the tiger salamander like Pepper said. That would be good. Fired belly newts are cool too, I almost got some of them, also not handleable unless you have wet hands while cleaning the tank. I really think that the skinks are great, I feel very confident with them. Also the crested gecko would be good, my friend has 3. Or I'm not very educated on these but maybe anoles?

Yeah anoles don't need much, they are just not very handleable because they are FAST!

I second the skink idea too, they are pretty awesome, and if you tame them down if they aren't already, they are fun to hold.
