A picky eater.

My male, juvenile leo is being a very picky eater. I can't remember what the name of the breeder was but I would assume that they fed him crickets instead of meal worms. I keep them in a meal worm dish mixed with a calcium supplement, and I haven't seen him voluntarily, eat out of the dish. He doesn't look unhealthy or too skinny but on occasion I pick up some crickets at the local pet store and when I put them in his cage he stalks and eventually eats them perfectly fine. Any suggestions?

It's difficult to change from crickets to mealworms. I have a female that was raised on roaches, and she will only eat roaches and crickets with their legs pulled off (makes them move more like roaches).

I've heard it works sometimes to make the guts spill out a bit to increase the scent. Maybe also try rubbing cricket guts on the mealworms.

It could also be a matter of the dish. Sometimes it takes them a while to recognize a dish as a source of food. Have you tried dropping the worms in front of him?
