I'm having a similar problem with my leo, banana. She won't eat anything but crickets. It's so frustrating because I want to provide her with a varied diet so she gets all the nutrients she needs.. but she won't eat mealworms or superworms. I've tried giving them to her outside of her tank, inside her tank, leaving them in for a while and holding them in front of her with tweezers. Nothings working.. she's a fussy little madam :D

Try wax worms! My leo wouldn't eat when I first got him so to get him started I would feed wax worms. To leos it is like halloween candy, they absolutely love them. So, I would suggest trying those. Keep us updated and let us know how it goes!

Good Luck!

There are a few larger sources of super worms in different sizes, I know Great Lakes Hornworms actually has different sized supers. If you are trying to switch your gecko from supers to mealies you could get some of the smaller supers and mix them in with meal worms, so that they end up eating both. DO NOT feed them wax worms, they are nothing but fat, if you want a over-weight chunky leo, then have at it. But feeding your geckos wax worms is like eating Big Mac's for us, may taste good but isn't very healthy at all.

:S should i feed waxworms.. I knew that occasionally like once every 2 weeks is okay.. but I want to start a feeding routine with a varied food source, but she won't touch mealies or superworms. All she will eat is brown crickets. I don't know what to do :S

Great Lakes Hornworm is a good company to deal with. I've ordered feeders from them many times and will again if needed, to restock my colonies if they ever run short.

I had an African Fat Tail that I rescued from a pet store and the only thing he would eat was pinkies. Wouldn't touch anything else, it was very weird. I'm not suggesting that you feed your leo pinkies, it isn't the best thing for them to only eat that and there are many other things to try first.

You may try to cut open a food item and spread it over his lips. That has stimulated some leos to eat.

I've tried like slicing open the superworm and rubbing it near her mouth with tweezers, but she just licks it and then gets annoyed that it's in her face and tries to walk away. :S

Yes. You can feed wax worms. Yes, they are like a burger to us, but everything is fine in moderation. To get her feeding response stimulated you should try one or two of these. But just keep the amount under control.

Caitlyn, if you are trying to hand feed, some leos don't take well to it and it stresses them. You may have better luck just leaving several worms in an escape proof dish that he can get into, so he can eat in privacy. Some leos are shy eaters and won't eat if someone is watching.

If he's that young you really should leave him be for a bit. Stop picking him up to eat. Just let him be. Keep the mealies, worms or whatever you're feeding in the tank and let him be. It's going to take a bit for him to settle in, not sure how long you've had him.

But if you've had him for a bit...he's very young and I'm sure you holding him to feed him is stressing him out. So just let him be and he'll start eating ;) They're pigs at that age.
