I tried to photodiary the whole eppisode but basically my snow gecko has had a tiny bump on his lip. It steadily grew larger but i couldnt do anything with it because there was no opening. today when i got home i noticed a pin sized hole. So i of course stuck a steralized pin into it. out came a hard, yellowish clear nugget of pus. it was lovely. also, the top ruptured just below his eye. I think i drained it pretty well and once i get a suringe i'll be flushing it with water to be sure ( i'd use betadine but its on his lip so i'd fear ingestion)

baytril for this too?

ok so last night....four days after the initial episode with the abscess i went at it again this time to remove the scab because it was making shed stick to his face.

i used a q tip and this came out ( i put it on a nail for photo purposes)

he's happy and eating well for the first time since I got him almost 2 months ago. the spot now is scab less and looks totally healed overnight.

ick, sounds like it could be an abscess. i had one this summer, antibiotics were a must but i'd consult a vet before giving him anything. antibiotics are not something that should be administered unnecessarily because it can do more harm than good in the long run.
