Accu-Temp 6000

Hey all! I have a Accu-Temp 6000 from Big Apple Herp and it has been working fine, with the exception that the inside temp and what its set at dont match, since December. The other day I went home and checked the inc for hatchlings! The temp inside was 72 degrees, well I moved all the eggs into my huva-bator that I use to inc males. The inc would not heat past 74 and the heating element would come on for a minute and shut off. I emailed Big Apple and they said that it wasn't under warranty anymore so I have had to order another inc. What I was wondering is, has anyone had this problem with this incubator?

Thanks

This incubator looks exactly like all the other mini-fridge heat/cool incubators including the MR-148 by lllreptile, reptripro5000 by reptipro, herp-bator by Kemp (note that Kemp adds to its description of this incubator: "NOTE: This includes accessories and modifications that you will not receive with similar incubators!") and others. To various extents, different companies have claimed that they have modified their incubator to do the job better, but I don't know that for sure. I have the reptipro5000 and while it generally does a good job, there is a difference of a few degrees between the temp it's programmed at, the temp it displays on the digital display and the temp my digital thermometer (with the probe in the egg container) says. For example, at the moment, it's programmed at 83, the display reads 82 and the digital thermometer reads 83.5. In addition, these settings will vary when the ambient temperature changes.

Have you tried raising the programmed temp really high? If the heating element won't stay on even with this measure, then unfortunately it's probably defective and you are **** out of luck. Maybe you can convince them to replace it at a discount.

Good luck,

Aliza
