These are sub species yet i wonder how many normals in mom and pop stores carry these since they are normal, i find hey have a different pastel sheen to their yellows besides he size difference. . My question is are these normals basically???
i highly doubt any really. Sub-species are not so readily available as some would like you to think. Sure the Afghans are becoming more more available which for me that is a sore subject but you won't see them then petstores i can tell you that.
Since there is a trade embargo and sanctions against many Middle East countries that leopard geckos can be collected in the wild, the chances of getting a pure E. m. fasciolatus or E. m. afghanicus in pet stores is not very likely. The few first and second generation from wild-caught parents that some of us are working with were legally imported through Europe.
