AFT and leopards

I have a weird question so im reading Ron tremper's book and it says that the AFT and Leo is very similar, So out of interest could they breed? and if they could what would they look like and would they live long?

No, they are genetically too far apart to produce viable offspring.

A thats weird i didnt think they were that genetically different, They require the same care as a Leo right? as i thinking of maybe getting one, one day

AFTs require higher humidity than leos (so a substrate of Eco Earth would be more appropriate).

From what I have heard, there have been attempts to breed the 2 together but because they are a different species and not related, they cannot produce fertile eggs. It's not about the habitat requirement but more about the genetics not being compatible.

Cool! well i think im defo going to look into AFT's and get some maybe next year as i hear there alot calmer then leo's. if it was up to me ild have all kinds of geckos!
