AFT Gecko question.

So I got a male AFT gecko about a month ago. Ever since I have brought him home he never comes out of his hide, and when he does and I enter the room he makes this hissing like sound and runs into the hide. And when he can't run straight to his hide, he starts sucking in his gut, and expanding it back and forth. Is there anyway to break him of this habit, or am I stuck with a grumpy male. Pics to come soon.

My setup: 10 gallon tank, warm side: 95-97 degrees, cool side 78 degrees. 2 hides, one cave and one humid hide on cool side.

I think that's a little warmer than necessary for the "warm side" of his enclosure. I kept mine between 90-92. AFTs require higher humidity, and if he's dry--especially while trying to shed--it might be making him crabby.

These are pics from the day I brought him home. I do agree, he does look dry in these photos. I will try and take new pics, but I got to warn you, getting near him is hard to do.

See thats where I am a little confused, I have read several times that they require a higher temp and a high humidity.
