Well i have lost another egg?
I see the disappointment some of you seen, guess it is all part of the breeding. I have read a lot and i am sticking to the problems as me and my leos are all first year.
i got the incubator set at 84 got a tub of water in there to help keep the temperature stable, using perlite at a 1:8 ratio, sealed containers, open once maybe twice a week to allow circulation and do a quick flashlight on them to see if i see veins or something.

I have lost them to mold and to denting. i got 9 eggs now and i am hoping for the best. I am sure things will get better we all just have to get in our groove. thought i hit a small update, we start step 1 getting our new shed built so we can clean out our little house. :)

Your ratio of perlite to water is 1: .8, not just 8?

Here's what I do: I use vermiculite at a 1: .8 ratio. All of my egg containers have one small hole in them. I still check them weekly, to make sure they're not too dry (not denting too early) or too wet (moldy.) These things usually don't occur, but I always check anyway - and bad eggs will mold, and I don't want them to affect the good ones. ;) Best of luck in whatever you do. :main_thumbsup:

We do the same thing that you do, and we have had our problems, but they were from known causes.. I am not sure what is wrong, but perhaps the eggs are going bad due to the females being first-year breeders.. First-year breeders don't always produce eggs correctly (and others do, it's highly varied).. I wish you the best of luck on the rest of your eggs, and I hope they all stay good and hatch for you!!!!

I really am not sure what could be happening, your perlite shouldn't be drying out, so the only other thing that causes denting and mold is the embryo actually dying, and from what you say, mid-term. Honestly, I would chalk it up to being the first-year female breeders having some problems producing viable offspring. It's very heart-breaking, and I am so sorry that this is happening. However, if it is due to the inexperience of your females, they should eventually begin producing eggs without problems mid-term. Sending positive thoughts your way and hoping that the rest of your eggs do well!
